“The Wildcats traveled to Soaring Heights and took on the Eagles on Monday. We had two hard-fought games that both came down to the final seconds. We lost the first game in a heartbreaker, but we were able to come back strong in the second game to split the series with the Eagles. Our players have had a fantastic season of improving and developing on the court. We have one final matchup against Lyons on Saturday, November 11th here at Westview at 10:00 AM and 11:15 AM. Go Wildcats!”

6th graders watch “Lost Boys of Sudan” in Social Studies. The documentary follows two Sudanese refugees on an extraordinary journey from Africa to America after they were orphaned as young boys as a result of civil war. Students are learning about the economic, social, political, cultural, and psychological impacts of immigration and emigration, as well as the concept of “acculturation.”
“Three Generations of Birds” by Corbin Abbitt. In Geometry classes this week, 8th grade students teamed up to make “transformation art” on Desmos. Using translations, reflections, rotations, and dilations, they produced some very creative and beautiful mathematical artwork!
Students and staff from Longmont High School (above) and Silver Creek High School (below) visited 8th graders this week to discuss the many different classes and opportunities that will be available to them in high school.
8th grader Chase Burkhardt “chucks a disc during club” on Wednesday. Dude.
6th grade Silver playing “Evolution Rock Paper Scissors” during team time. In this game, everyone starts as an egg and plays rock, paper, scissors. Whoever wins evolves into a chicken. If you win you move up the food chain. If you lose, you go back down in species. The kids loved this activity so much that many of them continued to play even when they were given the option to have a bit of free time instead!
Congratulations to Head Custodian Mr. Mike Hayes who celebrated his 25th anniversary at Westview and SVVSD on Thursday! Much to his delight, he just received a new Conex box which will house a new Utility Task Vehicle for Westview. He will use the vehicle to plow snow and complete other projects on the Westview campus. It is not an exaggeration to say that Mr. Hayes’s dedication, pride, and hard work are the reason that Westview is one of the cleanest, best-maintained, and most beautiful schools in the entire District. Thank you, Mr. Hayes, for your amazing contribution to the safety and well-being of the entire Wildcat community for a quarter of a century!

    Expect the best!!
