Westview Middle School Weekly Update

CU Boulder SchoolWide Labs generously provided 8th graders in Ms. Root’s Core X class with educational kits designed to teach students how to program self-driving cars and understand how they work.

  • Intramural Track and Field: Westview Track and Field 2024 Information
    • 6th Grade, 8th Grade (and last 1/3 of 7th Grade) Track Meet Monday, April 22nd @ Niwot High School, 3:00 pm
    • 7th and 8th Grade District Track Meet Thursday, April 25th @ Longmont High School, 2:00 pm
  • Westview Soccer: Soccer Game Schedule
    • Game Tuesday, April 30th, Westview @ Longs Peak (A Team only) 4:00-5:00 pm
    • Practices are on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays from 3:30 – 5:00 (except on game days)
  • St. Vrain’s Unframed Art Show live at the Boulder County Fairgrounds Exhibition Hall from April 16th -21st
    • Please join us at the Boulder County Fairgrounds Exhibition Hall from April 16-21 for the public viewing of artworks from all grade levels and schools across the St. Vrain Valley. Different mediums will be featured including ceramics, digital art/photography, drawing, jewelry making, metalwork, mixed media, painting, and printmaking.

  • Skyline Jazz Festival: Thursday, April 25th- Westview performs at 10:00 am. Parents need to drop off students at Skyline at 8:30 am. We will bus back to WMS around 11:45 am.
  • Wrestling uniforms: We have some wrestling uniforms that are still unaccounted for. Please check your belongings to see if you still have any wrestling gear. Any missing items will result in a charge to your account.

  • 8th Grade Class Picture: You can still order pictures, please use this link to order your panoramic class pictures: http://bit.ly/BestClassPicture. The photographer has waived the late fee until FRIDAY, May 3rd in case you didn’t get a chance to order your pictures.

    • Families and athletes will have an opportunity to meet with the Athletic Director to get information about participating in athletics in high school as well as meeting with head coaches to get information about how to start getting involved this summer and next year.  If you are unable to make it to the meeting please complete this Athletic Interest Form for each sport you are interested in so that we can get you on the email list for your sports.

Over 130 artworks created by our Wildcats are on display at the 2024 District Art Show (details above in Wildcat News). A heartfelt “Thank You” to our incredible Art teacher Mr. Jason Turner for fostering our students’ artistic talents and putting in the hard work it takes to ensure their work is recognized at this annual event! The Peep Diorama Contest winners were announced on Monday, April 15th, and were awarded some Peeptacular prizes. Congratulations to all our winners for your imagination, sense of humor, creativity, and engineering abilities!!

Westview Soccer prepares to take on Longs Peak at home on Monday, April 15th.
8th grade Treble Choir takes advantage of the acoustics in the main lobby to practice an acapella rendition of “Stitches” by Shawn Mendez. Beautiful!
8th graders Tallie McLees, Wren Herron, and Hazel Swanson present the “Food Truck” project they completed for Spanish class. Students were asked to design a truck, post hours and location, and create a menu that includes cuisines from at least two different Spanish-speaking countries.
