6th graders in Ms. Decker’s math class learn about the properties of exponents.
7th graders in Ms. Benjaminson’s math class learn the vocabulary associated with mathematical functions. Mastery of these terms is critical for solving word problems and is a valuable, practical life-long math skill.
8th grade students in Mr. Miyasaki’s geometry class are getting ready to take an exam on quadrilaterals and other polygons. They spent the unit learning about special relationships in shapes like squares, trapezoids, kites, and rhombuses.
Eleven of our 8th grade band students had rehearsal for SVVSD Middle School Honor Band on Tuesday evening. Students are working hard to prepare music for the honor band concert on February 7th.
“PE students in all grades are in the middle of our hockey unit. They are currently playing regular season games to try and make the championship game at the end of the unit. They have done a fantastic job utilizing hockey skills like passing and shooting as well as showing excellent teamwork and sportsmanship toward one another. With the championship day coming up it will be interesting to see who comes out on top.” ~Mr. Martenson
Students in 8th grade science demonstrate their musical instruments as part of their exploration of sound waves. These Wildcat musicians described how they create sound and change the pitch and volume of their instruments.  This gave real-life application to the physics of sound waves.
8th graders in Ms. Texera’s guitar class are learning how to play “Love Me Do” by the Beatles. The class is open to 7th and 8th graders (regardless of prior music experience) and guitars are provided!
8th grade students in Pops Orchestra STEM class break off into a small group to practice “A Million Dreams” from the movie The Greatest Showman.
Mr. Hayes was beyond excited to finally receive Westview’s brand-new Kubota utility vehicle today! This wonderful new piece of equipment will allow Mr. Hayes to take care of our campus with even more efficiency (if that’s even possible) and might also give him the chance for a little fun!

Expect the best!
