  • Late Start Day on Wednesday, December 6thSchedule here
    • The first bell rings at 10:40 am and classes begin at 10:50 am.
    • Busses run 2.5 hours later than the regular schedule and breakfast is not served on Late Start days.
  • Intramural Girls Basketball
    • Intramural Girls Basketball- The schedule will be posted in the afternoon on Monday, December 4th.
    • 8th Grade Girls Travel Team Basketball game- Monday, December 4th, Coal Ridge @ Westview, 3:30 and 4:45 pm
  • 6th Grade Band and Orchestra Concerts-
    • Thursday, December 7th, 6:00 pm @ Westview (Band in the gym and Orchestra in the Student Center.)
    • 6th Grade Band and Orchestra Rehearsals- Thursday, December 7th, 3:30 to 4:30 pm @ Westview
  • Music Department Fundraiser plant pickup-
    • Tuesday, December 5th from 1:00 pm – 6:00 pm outside the Gym Doors at Westview Middle School. Please note that if you pick up between 3:00 and 4:00 pm during school release, you must park in the main parking lot. We cannot block student pickup traffic. Please enter through the external gym door, and do not enter through the main building doors, as you will have to pass through the large gym where a basketball practice will be taking place.

  • Westview Annual Canned Food Drive December 1st – December 18th-
    • Starting December 1st, please have your student bring cans of food to their Wildcat class. We will have a free-for-all competition where we combine all of the teams and grade levels. There will be a winning team at each grade level and an overall school winner who will win the coveted food drive trophy! Before you send cans please note: We will not take or count food with glass bottles or food that will expire within 2 months. Thank you for your generosity and support!

As school counselors, we understand the importance of fostering strong connections between home and school to support our students. In this newsletter, you’ll find valuable insights, tips, and resources to empower you in navigating the unique challenges and triumphs of the middle school years. We hope this newsletter serves as a bridge to enhance communication, provide guidance, and strengthen the support network that surrounds our students.
  • Attention 8th Grade families:
    • A reminder that high school open enrollment for 2024-2025 is right around the corner. The open enrollment window is from December 1, 2023, through December 15, 2023. The open enrollment process has some changes this year. Please use this link to access a step-by-step guide of what to expect if you plan to open enroll your student(s). If you open enrolled your child at Westview, they will automatically be registered at their designated home high school unless you complete the open enrollment process to attend a different high school.

  • Innovation Center to Host ‘Day of AI’ Event as Part of Computer Science Education Week
    • Students, parents, educators, and AI enthusiasts are invited to this community event hosted by the Innovation Center on Saturday, Dec. 2nd from 2-5:00 p.m. This unique experience will offer interactive AI activities, informative sessions on St. Vrain’s initiatives in AI education, and hands-on STEM activities with the Future-Ready Innovation Mobile Lab. An outdoor drone light show will conclude the day’s events. A Day of AI also coincides with the World Artificial Intelligence Competition for Youth (WAICY), the world’s largest AI competition for youth, which is hosted by the Innovation Center this year.

Westview had a phenomenal turnout for our annual Open House on Wednesday, Nov. 29th. Prospective families learned about the many programs and opportunities that make Westview a truly outstanding, one-of-a-kind middle school. Please enjoy the video above and the photos below for a few highlights from the evening.
8th grade Orchestra students Emily Payne, Chelsea Miller, Tace Myers, and Titus Galloway welcomed guests in the front lobby. The quartet played songs they learned in class mixed with some holiday favorites.
Students in Ms. Neumann’s Show Choir STEM class started the evening with their rendition of “4 Chord Song” by Mark Brymer.
7th grade math teacher Mr. Kath and 7th grader James Boele talked with families about the Aeronautics STEM class. On display were many of the airplanes that students built during the class.
Communication about the STEM work that Westview students do is an imperative skill that is purposefully developed. During the Open House, 7th Grade student Isaac Finucan took the lead, explaining the ins and outs of Plains to the Park to prospective 5th grade students and their parents.  Well done, Isaac!
Garden Club presented a sample of the vegetables that will be planted in the Westview garden this Spring. The club introduces students to fundamental gardening practices and the joy of having their hands in the dirt.
Westview parent, former Westview teacher, and current Innovation Center Instructional Program Consultant Mr. Danny Hernandez informed guests about some of the awesome transformative learning opportunities available to them at the SVVSD Innovation Center.
