iPad distribution for 6th graders will be on Wednesday, September 2 from 3:40 - 7:30. For 6th Grade iPad distribution we are using a slightly different and more thorough process than we did in our upper grades. Parents will be required to attend an orientation session and go through a set of stations with their student. Orientation sessions begin every 20 minutes starting at 3:40. The last orientation session will begin at 7:00.
Districtwide, middle students participate in Geography Clubs that meet and practice throughout the school year to prepare and compete in the annual Middle School Geography Bee. This year’s culminating event, hosted by Thunder Valley K-8, was Tuesday night.
Twenty-eight teams, made up of over 140 middle school students from across the district competed in six dynamic rounds of questions.
The six rounds of questions incorporated the following areas of geography: Round 1: Physical Geography Round 2: Cultural Geography Round 3: Media
Ms. Jayme Sneider was awarded a $4500.00 grant to study volcanoes at Mt. Kilimanjaro in Africa. She will be sharing her learning and experiences digitally with our Westview students and community. Congratulations to Ms. Sneider and thank you St. Vrain Education Foundation.
From science fiction tales of R2-D2 and HAL 9000, comes today’s reality of robotics in our daily lives. This advancing technology requires 21st century skills of teamwork, critical thinking and creativity. In April, three teams from the St. Vrain Valley School District will take on that challenge at world level robotics competitions.
