Westview 7th grader Ruby-Mae Anderson was recognized for outstanding achievement in reading by representative from Reading Plus. Representatives from the Reading Plus organization were on hand this week to present the award. Ruby-Mae is pictured here along with her teacher Mrs. Linzer and classmates Kimberly Erives and Kevin Ramos who also demonstrated strong growth in their reading skills.
This week students at Westview Middle School planted a number of trees on our campus. These trees were planted to replace some of the ash trees at Westview that have been affected by the Emerald Ash Borer. This is the culmination of a project where our students partnered with Boulder County Parks and Open Space and the St. Vrain Grounds Department. These students learned about the Emerald Ash Borer and it's impact in Colorado. They learned about a variety of tree species and why they would be best for our school.
Westview Art teacher Elizabeth Nicholson was honored on Saturday night as the Teacher of the Year at Westview. In addition she was selected as one of only four finalists for the St. Vrain Valley School District Teacher of the Year. We are all very proud of Ms. Nicholson. Every student in her classes can attest to the fact that she is an amazing teacher who definitely deserves this recognition!
Three Westview teachers have been selected as finalists and have been invited to the annual Tribute to Teachers celebration on May 4 at the Westin Westminster. Congratulations to Mr Vue, Ms. Nicholson, and Mr. Cribby.
