Congratulations and a big thanks to all who participated in the Schoolwide spelling bee. There were four champions at each grade level, representing both blue and silver teams. All of the participants did a fantastic job in the spelling bee, with two seventh graders, Graham DAniel and Aiden Hanesll, tying in the initial round. They participated in two tie-breakers, and then needed a third and final tie-breaker. For the first time in the history of Westview, the final round was done orally, and it went seven rounds before Graham Daniel won. Both Graham and Aiden were fantastic participants. They encouraged each other the entire process, and both were gracious at the end. The winning word for Graham: diminuendo.
The 2017 Westview Geography Bee was another success and 8 Silver's own Eliot Collender emerged as our school champion from a talented pool of competitors. Eliot won in a sudden death tiebreaker over Eric Testori of the 6 Silver team. As school winner, Eliot has taken his qualifying test to see if he will be one of the participants in the Colorado Geography Bee held at the University of Denver on March 31. We are very proud of all our participants and wish Eliot the best of luck on his journey to Denver.
