Think back to when you were a student, back-to-school shopping, finding your classroom, and the exciting lessons that would soon fill your day. The first day of school jitters that were calmed by the friendly, welcoming face, and celebrating the “ah ha” moments when you finally figured out how to solve the problem. Then there was the time in kindergarten, when you went to the restroom but couldn’t remember the way back to your classroom. As panic set in, that friendly face walked around the corner and they knew exactly where your classroom was.

Robotics students at Longmont's Westview Middle School squeezed in as much time as they could in the robotics lab last week as they made final adjustments in preparation for a national competition. Their bots are designed to shoot balls into hoops, both autonomously and under driver control. "It's pretty crazy to be almost done," said eighth-grader Kate Desmond. "It's been such a great opportunity. There's been a lot of team building and learning. Going to nationals is pretty exciting."
On Friday March 25th the 8th Grade Band traveled to Mountain View High School in Loveland to perform at the Colorado Bandmasters Association Middle School Band Festival. This festival provides students with the opportunity to perform for other bands and two professional judges. The judges evaluate their performance based musical criteria including balance, blend, intonation, and musicality. The judges provided the ensemble with real time feedback and evaluated their ability to interpret and apply what they were asking them to adjust.
